ACPO Policy
The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) introduced a policy on police response to remote signalling security systems, to minimise the high number of false alarms attended by the Police.
All Direct Alarm systems are installed in full compliance with this policy, which enables us to obtain a Unique Reference Number (URN) from the Police. This URN allows you to have police response to your system, however there are conditions attached.
You must provide a minimum of two keyholders, who:
- Can be contacted by telephone
- Are able to attend the premises within 20 minutes using their own transport
- Hold keys for the premises
- Are familiar with the operation of the intruder alarm
You must also provide information on any hazards that may be present on the premises.
(Don’t worry - Direct Alarms Systems will provide all the necessary forms, and deal with the administration on your behalf!)
Police Response
There are three levels of Police Response:
- Level 1 — Immediate
- Level 2 — Response desirable but may by delayed
- Level 3 — No Police attendance
Police response will change should your system produce an unacceptable number of false alarms. More information about this is provided with our quotations.
